Craft activity for preschoolers and toddlers // Less mess pumpkin decorating

Pumpkin carving or painting can be pretty messy, so today we are sharing a few ideas for pumpkin decorating with your kids that are "less mess." Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers who may not yet have the developmental skills to paint or carve pumpkins yet!

We decorated our pumpkins using:

  • Halloween stickers
  • Googly eyes
  • Festive sequins

Craft activities are great for developmental skills! Peeling stickers helps to work on a child's pincer grasp, squeezing glue out of a bottle helps to work on grip strength, working with small objects helps to develop fine motor skills.

Full disclosure: I intended on us decorating one pumpkin with all stickers, one with all googly eyes, and one with all sequins... but the budding artists wanted to mix and match so I let them get creative! Watch our video to see how our pumpkins turned out.
